FAQ's
ABOUT THE KENNEL
Q; Can we come to the kennel? A; always!! YES, I encourage everyone to come to the kennel to meet the puppies they are considering!! When buyers do this they get to see the puppies in their normal environment and will have the opportunity to meet the parents of the puppies.
Q; What happens to the parents of our puppy? A; Our parents all go into pet homes around 6 years old after a complete health exam and after they are fixed.
Q; Were do you get your adults? A; Most of our parents are carefully selected as puppies, then we raise them to be loving pets that can easily go into pet homes when ready, but some come from other breeders as adults and then we must work hard to socialize them and determine weather or not they can go directly into pet homes as the dogs we raise do or if they will need extra training from a small rescue group we work closely with.
Q; How many dogs do you have? A; I currently have 46 adult dogs, to give the care that Carm demands for this number of dogs it takes Carm and Sally working fulltime and several high school students from our local area that work part-time.
Q; Do your dogs live in wire pens? A; NO!! my dogs have a state of the art Kennel building designed by experts and customized for me, their building gives them each an inside area and has a doggie door with access to their shaded outside area, their kennel flooring is marine coated metal that means it was designed to withstand the rugged ocean seas and use under the ocean water without rusting or corroding, I like the thick rubber coating that gives my dogs a safe comfortable floor yet keeps them clean and dry, when it rains they are not in mud, when it snows they don't have to deal with frozen paws or ice ect. the kennel building is environmentally controlled with heating, cooling, air sanitation and state of the art ventilation designed just for dogs. We have also added large outside play yards were our adult dogs get to interact together and enjoy different play toys and exorcize. I'm always adding something new or remodeling some part of the kennel to enhance and improve the lives of the dogs I choose to own!!
ABOUT BUYING A NEW PUPPY
Q; Male vs Female? A; this is the most common ? asked!! there are many opinions out there on this topic and mine is just one, Male and female dogs do have different basic natural instincts or rolls God gave them when he created the dog,
Female dogs in the wild guard their den and hunt for the food to feed their pups, they stay within their home territory and are protective of it, So our female dogs will follow this same pattern, they will be a great guard dogs and have strong protective instincts, females will normally bond to one person and put up with everyone else and like humane females they will have mood swings and be some what temperamental at times.
Male dogs in the wild roam freely and are happy go lucky until mating season when they will fight to be the top dog who gets the girl, males are generally the only sex used for guild dogs as they are not moody, territorial or aggressive unless thought to be and they most often bond with everyone. male dogs do have a bad wrap for lifting their leg and marking everything with their scent, this is true unless you get them fixed before puberty starts at 6 to 10 months old.
Either way it comes down to choice, I had a elderly lady one time tell me the reason she didn't want a male dog was " she likes to sit in the evenings and rub her pets belly and a male has something there she didn't feel comfortable rubbing" That was the best reason I have ever been given male vs female
Q; Is the puppy potty trained? A; NO I don't potty train your puppy, I spend my time cleaning, feeding and playing with the puppies!! everyone does things differently and you will need to make the disission on how you will potty train your new puppy, some will paper train using puppy pads, some will have a doggie door going into a safe yard, some will use a potty park. If you are told by a breeder that their puppies are potty trained it maybe true but you will have some amount of potty training because a puppy at 8 to 20 weeks is like a toddler who will need constant reminders and your home will be differant from the breeders!!
