Your Puppies Diet

The diet of your puppy is very important. Your puppy must eat and drink!!

Your new puppy should not be changed off the food it is familiar with for the first week in its new home, then if you must change, do so gradually. We feed M & K a premium tiny sized all natural dry kibble and Costco's Kirkland puppy dry and canned to all our puppies, The dry food is left out as free choice (for the pup to have as much as he wants) 24/7.

In addition to the dry food, we feed wet food 3 times per day. We offer them several different options, 1st is the Kirkland canned dog food, 2nd is a mixture of Chicken and Rice that Carm cooks special for them, 3rd is a mixture of 1/3 chicken or turkey Baby Food, 1/3 Baby Food Rice Cereal and 1/3 plain yogurt mixed to make a gruel, 4th is Nutria a high calorie dietary supplement, 5th is fresh goats milk you can buy at wal-Mart. They prefer their food warm. Yes they get spoiled here :)
This wet food is fed until we are comfortable they don't need it and should be feed to them to help transition them into their new home.
Your puppy will not need this extra diet forever and will soon be on a total diet of dry kibble.

Water is just as important for your new puppy!! We are on well water, our water has no preservatives, fluoride etc. that all city water is required to add and your new puppy may NOT drink the tap water you offer if it!! If you don't have a water purifier you need to consider giving your puppy bottled water for the first few weeks to limit the stresses your new puppy is dealing with all at once. You will NOT need to do this forever, your new puppy will transition over to drink your tap water, but it would be best if it was after the puppy has adjusted to its new home!!
